Movement Therapy

Movement therapy sessions utilize mindful-movement based practices to harness the mind-body connection. Embodiment practices are the primary modality used in these sessions —and are pulled from a variety of movement therapies such as Feldenkrais Method, Franklin Method, Laban Movement Analysis, and Yoga.

Ryanne specializes in Orthopedics with an emphasis in Pelvic Health. As a manual therapist, she has advanced training in Functional Manual Therapy from the Institute of Physical Art as well as Pelvic Health from the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She is a certified Hatha Yoga instructor and has studied various forms of movement therapies including the Franklin Method, Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis and the Feldenkrais Method. In practice, Ryanne uses an embodied approach, believing “at the center of a healthy and vibrant body is an integrated and intuitive relationship with that body”.

Beginning her career at PhysioArts Physical Therapy, she has served as staff physical therapy for Broadway productions including Billy Elliot and An American in Paris, the RadioCity Rockettes, and Gelsey Kirkland Academy. In 2015, she began advanced training in Pelvic Health and served as a senior therapist at Beyond Basics Physical Therapy in NYC prior to opening her own practice, the Body School, in 2017. In addition to her private practice Ryanne is a touring therapist with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Ryanne holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (2008) and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Studies (2002) from Long Island University.
